Diatomite

Diatomaceous earth is a siliceous sedimentary rock formed from the remains of ancient diatoms. It is lightweight, porous, and loosely soil-like, with strong water absorption and adsorption capabilities. It is mainly used as an adsorbent, filter aid, decolorizing agent, and thermal and sound insulation material. Diatomaceous earth belongs to the biochemical sedimentary rock category, with its main component being the deposition of diatom cell walls. It is pale yellow or light gray in color, soft and light in texture, and can be easily ground into powder; it has low density, is porous, has a rough feel, and extremely strong water absorption.
